After discussing, Cllr Grocott proposed proceeding with the quotation received from Robert Fiebelkom; seconded by Cllr Hovey and approved unanimously.
Cllr Piper commented that Rufus Bradley has done a very good job whilst working on pond 8, by building a small island which will provide a safe area for the ducks.
Action: Cllr Grocott to instruct Robert Fiebelkom to proceed
8. To Consider and Agree Quotations for Topping Work Required
Cllr Grocott had obtained three quotations for the topping work required, and circulated them to Commons Committee members prior to the meeting. Cllr Thornton said that there are a lot of brambles around the edges of the common, including the play area, which need cutting in addition to the areas of common itself. A topper would be able to cut them, they do not need a bushwhacker. Cllr Bradley said it is part of the stewardship agreement to keep on top of the brambles. After discussing, Cllr Grocott proposed proceeding with the quotation for the topping work to the common received from Robert Fiebelkom, and to ask him to also top the brambles, up to a maximum additional amount of £100. Seconded by Cllr Thornton and approved unanimously.
Action: Cllr Grocott to instruct Robert Fiebelkom to proceed as above
9. To Consider and Discuss Grazing/Management of the Common Next Year
No one has expressed interest in grazing the Common next year. Cllr Thornton said it would therefore need topping again next July time. Cllr Grocott suggested haymaking which councillors agreed is an option that should be looked into further.
