  2. Sports Clubs questions or comments - The representative from WLTC gave an update on the proposed footpaths. The proposal is for two footpaths, 1) giving disabled access from the car park to the tennis courts and 2) a longer path from the pavilion to the tennis courts. As yet, no quotes for the longer path have been obtained. Three quotes have been sourced for the disabled access, and these will be forward to the committee for review. All were in agreement that the paths should not be stepping stones, and that they should be laid with sub foundations etc. It has been proposed that the work commence at the end of March and Wortham Lawn Tennis Club will be bearing the cost of the paths.

5. To receive an update on o/s actions

The gutters at the pavilion need to be cleaned - Clerk to obtain quotes for gutter clearance. The problem of the water leak and accessing the stop cock has still not been resolved. Councillor Ling to make further enquiries and Clerk to contact Wave/Essex and Suffolk Water.

6. To consider, discuss and agree on Sports Club Rents for 2021

It was unanimously agreed that the rents would be as follows:

  • WLTC - £880 per annum
  • Wortham Bowls Club - £50 per annum
  • Football fixtures - £33 per game

An enquiry has been received for the costs to hire the football pitch. As discussed, the charges are £33 per match and would be subject to an agreement being completed and signed. Clerk to contact the previous user to obtain spare keys.

7. To consider, discuss and agree to Grass Cutting Schedule/Quotes

At the Parish Council meeting held on the 5th March it was agreed to revise the grass cutting schedule to twice weekly cuts for April and May and then 3 weekly cuts for the rest of the season. Unfortunately the successful contractor withdrew his tender due to these revisions. After reviewing the quotes and the schedule it was unanimously agreed to revert back to twice weekly cuts, together with the control of the moles and strimming around the posts at the Post Office and the track between Bury Road and Long Green - Clerk to contact T G Groundworks.
